Walsh started on site at Broseley in May 2020 to stabilize a landslip that had caused severe damage to both land and residential homes. Work involved piling, soil nailing, use of a 100T crane, land and soil stabilization.
Despite the tricky logistics of the site, work was completed on time and to budget and programme. Due to the logistics of the site deliveries were planned with consideration to the needs of the neighbours, we made use of a local yard which helped lesson the disruption to the neighbouring properties.
Work included removing trees, stabilizing one property with piling and ring beam, a specialist spider excavator was used to reduce the size of bank, with hundreds of tonnes of materials being moved off site. The second property was stabilised, using drains in the bank to accommodate and to release ground water, further reinforcement of a concrete wall was installed to avoid any future movement of the landslip. During the works Walsh worked with some of the most renowned Structural and Geotechnical Engineers in the field of landslips/landslides, the Walsh project team were able to contribute during the design process, advising on buildability, sequencing, programming and target costs.
