Embankments and Stabilisation

We have experience and expertise in constructing embankments and working on ground stabilisation for existing landslides. Landslides all have their own challenges, Walsh have been working alongside specialist sub contractors including ground stabilisation specialists and geotechnical services and by inputting into the design we have now successfully worked on a number of landslides over the last 24 months. With landslides it’s recognised by the experts that ‘Early Contractor Involvement’ is vital to ensure the most appropriate, risk managed and cost effective solution is delivered. Solutions often involve an array of ground anchors, piling, cement/chemical injection, gabion baskets or mattresses, reinforced earth, reinforced concrete and/or counterfort drainage.

Repeatedly selected by some of the UK’s most renowned Structural and Geotechnical Engineers in the field landslips/slides Walsh Project & Commercial Managers are able to contribute during the design process, advising on buildability, sequencing, programme and target cost. Thereafter Walsh Site Teams have a proven track record of delivering the schemes safely, on time and on budget with ensuring the safety of all construction staff and subcontractors being paramount.

We have worked in areas with incredibly tricky logistics, including projects near river bank protection, train track protection and earth stabilisation works. Walsh Construction have been involved with many landslide and soil nailing schemes for Gloucestershire County Council, in partnership with Skanska, Amey and recently Ringway. As a Contractor on the GCC framework contract we have large experience of Early Contractor involvement to formulate the most suitable methodology, and to assist with planning the schemes within budgets and timeframe constraints. Other clients have included heritage railways, private clients, insurance brokers where we have worked on both short term emergency works and long time solutions.
